Peruvian agro-exports reached a record $12.324 billion in revenue in 2024, solidifying the country’s position as a key player in global agricultural trade, according to a report by Fluctuante. This sustained growth is driven by product diversification, high quality standards and expansion into new international markets.
The top-performing export was fresh blueberries, generating over $2 billion in sales and accounting for 19% of total exports. Demand for this superfood continues to rise in key markets such as the United States, China and Europe, fueled by its nutritional benefits and the global trend toward healthy eating. The diversification of varieties and logistical optimization have been crucial factors in this success.
Fresh grapes ranked second, with $1.693 billion in exports, positioning Peru among the world’s top grape exporters. Despite a 5% decline due to adverse weather conditions that accelerated the harvest, the high quality and strict phytosanitary standards have kept Peruvian grapes competitive in global markets.
In third place, fresh avocados generated $1.25 billion, maintaining strong demand in Europe and the United States. Avocados have become a staple in healthy diets and international cuisine, supporting their steady growth despite production challenges.
Coffee and cocoa beans complete the top five, with $1.096 billion and $720 million, respectively. Coffee exports increased by over 30% compared to the previous year, partly due to rising global prices, while cocoa saw an exceptional 232% growth, with Malaysia, Indonesia and the Netherlands as its top destinations.
The ranking of the top ten agro-exports is rounded out by fresh asparagus, fresh mangoes, wilkings, animal feed preparations and quinoa, reaffirming Peru’s diverse and strong agro-export sector. These results underscore the country’s commitment to agricultural excellence and its growing prominence in the global market.
