According to a report by the Hass Avocado Board (HAB), the United States saw a notable increase in avocado sales during the summer holidays of 2024. Unit sales grew by an average of 2.3%, while dollar sales rose by 19% compared to the summer season of 2023.
Independence Day (July 4) and Labor Day (the first Monday of September)—two key dates of the season—together generated sales of 92.4 million units and $122.5 million. On the first date, sales reached $63.6 million, marking a 20.8% increase from the previous year. On the second, sales totaled 44.3 million units and $58.9 million.
The small avocado category played a crucial role in these figures, contributing 5.7 million units sold. In this regard, small avocado promotions saw significant sales increases, surpassing both large avocados and bagged options. The highest volume growth for small avocados was recorded in the Northeast.
