UCC participates in Málaga Fruit Day 2025, a key event to strengthen the connection between Latin America and Europe

The Port of Málaga held the second edition of “Málaga Fruit Day,” bringing together key players in the international fruit and vegetable trade to discuss the sector’s challenges and opportunities — and UCC was present.

The event, held on October 3 at the Technological Campus of the International University of Andalusia, gathered logistics operators, shipping lines, and representatives from producing, importing, and exporting companies from countries such as Peru, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Chile, and Spain.

UCC, represented by CEO René Díaz, took part in the roundtable discussion “Challenges and Opportunities of the Port of Málaga as a Gateway to Europe,” alongside notable industry figures: Enrique Morales (Manager at Jalhuca Spain), Greivin Delgado (Executive Director of the United Pineapple Producers Chamber of Costa Rica), Diego Galindo (Managing Director for Peru, Ecuador, and Venezuela at Hapag-Lloyd), and Antonio Cuenca (Foreign Trade Specialist).

During the session, participants emphasized the importance of maritime connectivity and collaboration among strategic ports such as Málaga, Algeciras, and the main Latin American terminals — essential to maintaining an efficient and sustainable logistics chain that drives agri-export trade.

The day also included a technical visit to the Port of Málaga’s facilities, where attendees learned about its logistical capabilities — particularly in handling perishable products — as well as the technological advancements implemented to ensure traceability and operational efficiency.

This event took place just one day after the closing of Fruit Attraction 2025, an international trade fair in which UCC also took an active role. Both occasions stand out as key opportunities to strengthen alliances, drive new business opportunities, and continue connecting producers and markets worldwide.

Also attending the event were UCC Country Managers Sonia Maíllo (Iberia), Fernanda Canevaro (Peru), Juan Fernando Montoya (Colombia and the Americas), and Esteban Rodríguez (Costa Rica); Chile Commercial Manager Rodrigo Baeza; Costa Rica Head of Commercial Dahiana Valderramos; and Iberia Sales Executive Maica Cagiao.
